Bush walk
The sun is rising up. Mum and dad says “it’s a beautiful day what shall we do”.” I know” I said loudly “why don’t we go for a bush walk”. “Thats a great Idea” says mum. “Come on kids let’s go”.
Off we went to start a whole day of an adventure. We got to the bush walk “look a trail let's see where it leads to”. Mum was surprised the bush walk has changed since the last time she went. It was amazing.
My family went through the bushes and saw different kinds of birds. They went past the river and saw the ducks swimming and playing around. They quickly stopped to feed the birds bread because the was a box full of duck food and went back to the birds to take photos. Then to a whole new world.
There was beautiful flowers, birds chirping and dogs running around. We all went to play run around and enjoy the beautiful sunshine . The happiness put a smile on everyone's face.
After a long day we went back home. “What an adventure” we all said. It was the best and most coolest adventure I’ve ever been to.

The day of the explosion
Not long ago there lived a young lady called Arianna. She lived in a lab with her parents in a place called Mad Scientists , that was where all the scientists lived. One day when Arianna got home she really wanted to make an experiment.
So she got all the things she needed and got to work. The things she needed were a blowtorch, a marshmallow, icing sugar, and milk. First she dipped the marshmallow in the milk and rolled it in the icing sugar, she covered the whole thing.
Once it was dry she blowtorched it and left the blowtorch on to still heat up the marshmallows. WERRH OH WERRH OH!! She heard the smoke alarm and ran to the lab. Everything exploded and it went horribly wrong. Arianna ran to get the fire hose and sprayed it all out.
She said “this is Awesooooooome”! I want to do this again with my friends but I just have to be very careful.

Ben Johnson
In 1988 in the Seoul Olympics there was a young man named Ben Johnson. He was about to race in the finals for 100 meters. Everybody's eyes were on Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis.
They were both racing in the 100 meters sprint for the gold medal. The gun went off and the boys ran as fast as they could. Ben Johnson ran and at 50 meters he was coming first. He crossed the finish line well before all the other athletes. He also made a new world record.
He won the gold medal and was proud of himself until he got in trouble for taking drugs to run faster. All athletes have to take a test before they run just incase they took drugs to get faster than the other people. This is a race remembered for all the wrong reasons.
He wasn’t allowed to race again because he was caught taking drugs and never raced in any other Olympic games.

Olympic flame
The ancient Greeks started the tradition of having an Olympic flame in Olympia. A sacred flame is lit by the sun's rays and stays alight until the games have ended. The flame symbolized a request for protection from Zeus and the athletes’ struggles for victory.
The modern flame symbolizes the light of the spirit, knowledge and life. To this day, the torch is still lit in Olympia in Greece. Then carried by a relay team passing runner to runner until it reaches the host-city of the games. There, the cauldron will be lit and stay alight until the closing ceremony.

The Olympics
The olympics began over two and a half thousand years ago in ancient Greece. In those days Greece was made up of several different states including Athens, Sparta and Corinth and they were often at war with each other but when the games were on they held a truce. This great event was held in a place called olympia and this is why the games were called the olympics.
They were held every 4 years in honour of Zeus , lord of all the Gods. Eventually the ancient olympics were abolished by the roman Emperor Theodosus the first who was a christian and didn’t like the games because they were dedicated to a pagan God . But the olympics were always remembered as a symbol of human achievement and peace.

Te Tuhi
Climbing off the bus with excitement, we lined up in two straight lines ready to walk inside Te Tuhi. When we got inside Te Tuhi our tour guide Jeremy was waiting for us so we could go to the workshop. As we got inside the workshop Jeremy said we could start making our dream house.
First we had to pick 10 shapes then transform them into a dream house. Then when we finished transforming our houses and we glued the shapes on. After that we had to outline our dream house with vivid. Last but not least we had to draw the inside of our dream house.
I drawed my own Burger King then I drawed my bedroom. My bed is a chocolate bed with king size chocolates next to it. I have a netball court and if you look up you will see all my trophies I have won. If you get tired after a netball game you can jump on the roller coaster and it will take you straight to my swimming pool. There is also a waterslide that goes all the way to my pool.
At my pool is bumper boats and a waterslide. I wish my dream house was real so that I could live in it. When we finished our dream houses we went to the art gallery. When we got inside the art gallery it was really cool.
There was this art station so that when you come with your family you can paint their face on a piece of paper. You have to put a blindfold on and dip your finger into the paint and feel your parents face at the same time as painting their face. It looked really cool.
In the next room it’s like a movie theatre but instead it’s just a room that is dark playing movies. After that we went back to the foyer and lined up ready to go back to school.
I really loved Te Tuhi and I wish to go there with my family one day.

Geometry Garden
My Geometry Garden
We are describing the different parts of our garden and what geometry features they show.
| |
What type of symmetry do your flowers have?
|
In my garden my flowers have Rotational Symmetry
This means that… It’s rotational order is 4 times and your flower can look the same when you rotate it.
|
What type of symmetry does your butterfly have?
|
In my garden my butterfly has Reflective Symmetry
This means that... It looks the same on both wings. In the middle of my butterfly it has a line of symmetry.
|
Pathway
What geometry feature does your pathway show?
What did you do to make sure pathway?
|
In my garden my pathway shows…
Tessellation
To make my pathway I… had to Translate my hexagons to make a tessellation pattern.
This means that..
You always have to have no gaps to make sure that your pattern tessellates.

Art reflection
6 Thinking Hats
Write 2 - 3 sentences for each hat as a reflection about our Art Creation.
How I feel about my artwork or the whole process.
|
Creating my piece of artwork I felt proud because I created it all by myself. It took me 1 month just to finish my artwork.
|
What did I enjoy most of all or what was the best thing about my painting.
|
I enjoyed doing everything with my friends and helping them with their artwork. I also loved vividering because when we outlined our paintings it looked much better.
|
What did I find hard or I didn’t like.
|
The hardest thing for me was painting because I was trying not to go outside the lines. I didn’t like some of my painting because it was very messy but when I was vividering the messy bits went away.
|
How can I do my art better next time?
|
I can do my art better next time by trying not to make it messy and to take more time on my painting instead of rushing. I should make my patterns much larger so that it will be easier for me to paint.
|
What was the most interesting thing I did or my friends did.
|
The most interesting thing was that Eden had to dye her painting because her artwork was so beautiful but her patterns were small. It was interesting because she had a lot of problems and she had to ask for help.
|
What did I learn most about?
|
To be careful when you paint also be careful when you outline your painting with vivid. To draw your patterns and details big.

My Duffy book
This is My Duffy book. I love my Duffy book because it is a Ella and Olivia book. Ella and Olivia books are one of my favourite books. I only need 9 more Ella and Olivia books to collect and then I have the whole collection of Ella and Olivia. I can't wait to read my Duffy book from the Duffy Community.

Tamarereti
At night when there was no light people were in danger because they were afraid of the taniwha. There was a strong young warrior named Tamarereti in Lake Taupo. He had a rumbling stomach so he grabbed his kete and went off fishing.
Tamarereti rowed his way to Lake Taupo to catch some fish. He was so sleepy that he fell asleep on his waka. As he was sleeping the wind blew him to the other side of Lake Taupo.
When he woke up he got out of his waka and cooked his 3 large fish that he caught. As he was cooking his fish he saw some glistening pebbles in the sea. He picked them out of the sea and jumped in his waka.
Tamarereti was rowing his waka and threw the pebbles in the sky. He was scared that the taniwha would eat him but luckily the pebbles were in the sky so he could see where he was going. Finally he got home and ran to sleep in his bed.
The next day Tamarereti woke up in the afternoon and had a visitor waiting for him. It was Ranginui, the god of the sky. Tamarereti was afraid of what he did to the sky as he realised that he took away the night sky and filled it with lights. Tamarereti was sure that he was going to get punished but instead Ranginui said “Tena ko, you have made the land safer and the sky more beautiful, I’d like to honor your change to the night sky and cast your waka into the heavens”. Tamarereti was relieved.
Now you can see the waka parked in the night sky. Many others around the world call the waka of Tamarereti the Milky Way.

The magical art adventure
Creating and building new things with our team 3 teachers was awesome. We built a house with polystyrene blocks with Mr Blakey and transformed ourselves into a cartoon character with Miss Scanlan. We also helped Whaea Saf build a whare.
Miss Taylor had some big triangles, little squares, octagons and medium sized circles so we transformed them into animal pictures and Mr Moran did paper airplane challenges. Last but not least was Miss King’s fun time in the classroom. We got to play with playdough, Lego and do the Marble run. I loved seeing smiles on everyone's faces.

The Colesseum
The Colosseum is an ancient amphitheatre in Rome, Italy. The colosseum was built 70 years after Jesus was born. It is a grand and glorious place to go to. When you go to the Colosseum there are stone archways and gladiators to take photos with.
The Colosseum is 2000 years old. Inside, the Colosseum had seating for more than 50,000 spectators. Part of the Colosseum broke down because of an earthquake.

My dream bedroom
Special Feature
|
Describe each special feature of your dream bedroom.
|
My disco shower.
|
When you enter my Dream Bedroom you will see my disco shower. It is very colourful and when you turn the shower on there is music playing, colourful water and there is even a TV on the top so you can relax and sit on the seat beside you.
|
My hoverboard.
|
Right next to my swimming pool is my hoverboard. It is a purple batwing hoverboard with black stripes. If I had a real hoverboard I would ride it every day around my room and outside.
|
My bed
|
My bed is shaped like a chocolate bar and next to my bed is a wall of my favourite chocolates. My bed looks exactly like a real chocolate and sometimes I think it is a big giant chocolate.
|
My restricted Elevator
|
In the top right corner of my dream bedroom is a normal closet with capital letters that say NO BOYS ALLOWED. I love my secret elevator because I can go anywhere at any time and I won’t have to be late again to netball and rugby games.
|
My butler’s area
|
I am not allowed in my butler’s area because he needs space to cook and bake yummy food for me and my friends. Every Easter week he always makes me a big white chocolate bunny, also he makes me bunny cupcakes and king size chocolates for all my friends and it has a ticket to a concert inside the chocolate. I acknowledge my butler for being here.
|
My dance floor
|
My dance floor is colourful, it has a spotlight, big loud speakers and a camera that records you dancing on the dance floor. Next to my dance floor is a snack table with lollies, cupcakes, chips and chocolates. I love my dance floor because I get to party and dance.
|
My pool
|
Inside my dream bedroom is a big swimming pool that has bumper boats and a diving board so I can do some bombs. I have a waterslide that leads from my bed to my pool and a roller coaster that starts off at my secret elevator and goes all the way to my swimming pool.
|
Walkway to Pisirina’s house
|
Behind my TV is a secret entrance that leads to pisirina’s house. When I walk to Pisirina’s house I have a sweets wall on the side of me and on the other side is a cupcake maker that makes any cupcake you want. I have never let anyone in my secret walkway to Pisi’s house, only me and Pisirina know about this.

Holiday blogpost 12
On the 1st of May It was my last day in coromandel because on Monday it’s school. The first thing I did was go and watch a bit of TV and then I went to go clean my room up. I put on my togs and put my bag in the car. I had Breakfast then I brushed my teeth and washed my face. My brother and sisters were playing outside and I was helping my mum clean the windows. Me and my siblings played outside and my mum called us to say that we were going to the beach. We got in the car and went to Hahei beach. We were cold but I just jumped in the water with my boogie board and swam around in the sea. I was jumping waves, riding waves and playing tag in the ocean. Then we left to go back to the bach. We showered, cooked pancakes and ate them on the way home. We arrive at our house at 8:15PM. I loved coromandel.
Holiday blogpost 11
On the 31st of April me and my family went to go visit Cathedral Cove where they filmed the Chronicles of Narnia. First we got our togs ready and put them on our bed then we went to go have Breakfast. After Breakfast we brushed our teeth and washed our face then we got dressed into our togs. Then my mum opened the sliding door the view was so beautiful we could see Hahei beach and the Hot water beach. We started walking to Cathedral Cove and when we got there the sign said that we had to walk 35 mins to get there. On our way to Cathedral Cove we stopped off at gem bay to see what it looked like and we kept walking. We were so tired and thirsty after we finished walking then I just dived into the water straight away. The water was nice and cold. I rode the waves with my boogie board. After swimming and riding waves we had to go back to the bach so we had some water and started walking back. I had a great time at Cathedral Cove.
